Which do you want?

"Are you having a boy or girl?", "What are you having?"
I'm already sick of the question. If someone asks "Do you know?", I
always say "No, we don't." Usually they respond "you don't want to, do
you", and I say "nope". (Big smile)
If they ask "What are you having?", I answer "a baby". Sometimes I'm a
smart aleck, and add "I think" to that :-).
What I really don't like is someone asking which I want. I want
a healthy baby. If I did have a preference, I wouldn't tell just anyone--I
don't want someone saying to my son someday "your mom wanted a girl" (or reverse
to daughter/boy). Preference is a pretty personal question--and seems kind
of rude to me.
I don't know if other people feel this way, but if I did know the sex of our
baby, I'm not sure I would tell just anyone one asked, anyway. If we
chose to find out early doesn't mean we want to share the news. There are
lots of things that fit into that category: "When are you going to have your
(first/next) child?" certainly being included. I knew the answer to
that (within an epsilon) long before I was willing to make a public
announcement.
